It used to be whippings and varnish, then it went to whippings and epoxy, now the clever bu**ers just do it with epoxy alone.

Similar thing happened to the sister of one of the missus' colleagues on the M1 a couple of weeks ago (J25/26).

Portugese lorry driver pulled out and pushed her into the central reservation and drove over the back of her car.

She was on her way to pick up her kids. Police said that had they been with her they would have been killed instantly.

A few drivers who witnessed it stopped to help her. Whilst waiting for the paramedics numerous drivers berated her for holdin them up, including one charmer in a Transit who wound down his window and shouted something akin to "You stupid f*****g cow. You might not have anything better to do but some of us have got homes to go to".

The Police told her that it is a regular occurence and it was the fourth incident with left had drive trucks at that spot that day. Apprently, as they can't see, they indicate (well some do) waite for three cars to pass (roughly the length of the truck) and then pull out.

The Paramedics said they also have trouble with drivers annoyed at the hold ups. Some won't even let them pass. They also got abuse when they stopped to move cones to get into the coned off section to get to the scene quicker.

It makes you wonder what goes through the heads of some people!

Booked my next test now but got a two month wait. Gonna setme back £114 plus extra tuition. Not ideal considering louise is now on statutory maternity pay. Still when people take on these jobs, tax man, traffic warden, driving examiner, etc they must first accept nobody likes them!! :)

I read in AT that all 3 of the new Shimano poles were less than 800g at 13m, but according to the Shimano website the poles weigh up as follows:

Aspire Ultra @ 13m = 843g / 16m = 1319g
Fireblood @ 13m = 862g / 16m = 1322g
Super Ultegra @ 13m = 884g / 16m = 1348g

the only poles I know of below 800g at 13m are the Drennan Zircon & the Daiwa Spectron M2

Drennan Zircon @ 13m = 770g / 16m = 1240g
Daiwa Spectron M2 @ 13m = 700g / 16m = 1270g

My advice would be don't try to get them up in the water until it starts to warm up in April. Feed lightly and not too often fishing an insert waggler either just touching or just over depth. If it's towing swith to a thicker topped waggler and and don't be afraid to go up to a foot or more over depth dragging a few No 10's or 8's along the bottom to slow the float down.

Some may tell you the PW will work and you will catch shallow but in my experience you are better off keeping the fish on the bottom and refining your approach.
