All Ireland Open Championships 2001

  Sunday 29th July 2001.

Lough Oughter, Killeshandra, Co. Cavan.

 

190 Anglers fished this years Healy Group All Ireland Open Championships which was held for the 2nd year running on the prolific Lough Oughter in Co. Cavan with Killeshandra as the base. 

The competition brought Seniors, Juniors and Lady anglers from all over Ireland and the United Kingdom. 

The National Coarse Fishing Federation of Ireland are pleased to have secured Healy Group as the event sponsor again this year.  Healy Group have established themselves as the main suppliers into the food and beverages industries within the island of Ireland.  Their marketing manager Ms. Aileen Murphy represented Healy Group at the event.

The full results of the competition were as follows:

Seniors:

1st         Terry Ashton Nottingham A.A      19kg. 200 grams.  Terry was fishing on the Tullyguide section of the lake.  He was presented with the Healy Group All Ireland Open Championships perpetual cup.

2nd        Johnny Keith, Lurgan A.C. 16kg. 400 grams.  Johnny was also fishing on the Tullyguide section of the lake

3rd        Henry Norton, Portobello A.C. 13kg 400 grams.  Henry was also fishing on the Tullyguide section of the lake.

4th        Kevin Ashurst, Enniskillen 13kg 320 grams.  Kevin was fishing the Killykeen section of the lake.

In the Ladies Section the winner was Meryl Thatcher, Redhills, 1kg 900 grams.  Meryl was fishing the Tullyguide section of the lake.

In the Junior Section fished on Bawn lake, the winners were as follows:

1st         John Barr Jnr, Preston Innovations Portadown 52lb. 12ozs.

2nd        Andrew Moore, Dundalk 22lb. 9.5ozs.

3rd        Trevor Reynolds, Cavan 15lb. 10ozs.

 

 

The NCFFI would like to express their sincere thanks to the Northern Regional Fisheries Board for all their work on the event and to the Killeshandra Coarse Angling Club for their assistance making this event a success.  The NCFFI would also like to thanks Ms. Aileen Murphy from Healy Group for representing the Group at the presentation.  And to all the anglers who turned up on the day on competed.
